What is pulpal debridement?
When severe decay has infected the inner portion of your tooth, namely your dental pulp and tooth nerves, Dr. Obiora E. Nkwonta, our caring dentist, may recommend pulpal debridement. Pulpal debridement is the process by which we treat the infection inside of your tooth in an effort to maintain the vitality of your smile for as long as possible before root canal treatment becomes necessary. We offer pulpal debridement in Seattle, Washington as our main treatment to relieve pain and put a smile back on your face.
How is a pulpal debridement performed?
Generally, it only takes one visit to our dental office to have a pulpal debridement completed. After using any necessary anesthesia to numb the area, Dr. Obiora E. Nkwonta makes a small opening in the tooth and removes a portion of the infected dental pulp. This relieves some of the pressure on the tooth and gives room for the dental pulp to swell. While you may feel better after pulpal debridement, it is important to work with Dr. Obiora E. Nkwonta to schedule your root canal treatment, as pulpal debridement is not considered a final solution to endodontic disease and pain. Please do not hesitate to contact Lake City Way Dental Center today if you are experiencing dental pain. We are eager to take care of your smile!
